During the 2000-2001 we had thirteen races and six blowouts. We needed 8 races (60%) to qualify for the season. For as long as anyone can remember the Season Championship has been won by a color (Greene or Whyte). This year the streak was finally broken by a Dawson, with Tim winning by four points over Peter Greene. Chuck Allen finished third, ten points further back. Throughout the season, Tim showed how to get off the line with good starts and how to pick the shifts. And, according to Tim, "losing 25 pounds between seasons didn't hurt either." Tim also cleaned up on the other special trophies. He won the Ken Payne Memorial Regatta on April 1 and the Hangover Bowl on New Year's day. Peter Greene and Chuck Allen again vied for second and third in each regatta. The Flipper
Award for 2000-2001 went to Bob Hicks with Jim Padbury a close second.
(Bob won the tiebreaker because he sunk his boat and also broke a mast
and a rudder.) Thanks also go to the Pleasant Street Wharf and Chris Winsor for the committee and crash boats. Thanks for all your help! |
