December 12: At 11:30 a.m. at Quonsett it was 10 knots gusting to 19 out of the west and it held pretty much true throughout the frostbiting day. The wind was quite shifty and those that picked the shifts could find their way "up the ladder" better than the rest. Tim had little competition today. He didn't win all the starts, and he didn't always get to the weather mark first, but he always made it to the finish first. We had four capsizes today. Ryan capsized on the way out. Then in race 1, I could have sworn it was Gordon, but the score listed him as finishing 10th, so who was that masked man? In race 3 I could have sworn it was Gary, but he's listed as finishing 6th. Gary in 1 and Gordon in 3? Nelson definitely capsized between races 3 and 4. Ironically, Gary and Nelson rounded the first mark together in the fourth race in the lead. There may be some anomalies in the scoring since the racers were taking finishes while Hans was pulling people out of the drink. Report back to nelson@j105.org if you know of any.
